2026 Staying the Course in the Life of Service
With Lin Langley MA, CAGS and Kirsten Maier PhD
October 4 - 8, 2026
Those who choose a life of service will tell you it is a rich and gratifying adventure. In a quiet moment, they may also confide that a serving life brings abundant challenge. Social, political and organizational conflict; fire, flood and other climate-related crises; and wicked societal problems such as poverty, addictions, and homelessness can tax the energies of those called to serve, in any capacity, in 2026 and beyond.
This modified Life Review workshop offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on a life of service. Working in small groups, participants will consider what drew them to serve; will examine the gifts and costs of a serving life; ascertain the sources of both vigor and fatigue in their work; and experiment with practises and activities that strengthen, equip, and provide stamina for the long run.
The workshop is open to ordained or lay ministers, health or social service workers, church or social service staff or anyone who engages in a life of service. A conversation with one of the facilitators will ensure a good fit for interested parties. Some informal writing will occur prior to the workshop. Please consider disconnecting for these days by staying with us at the Centre.
Note: No Dogs allowed at the workshop meetings.
