Finding Deep Hope in the Climate Crisis: Wearing a seatbelt of joy in a time of threat:
The first Christians proclaimed, against common sense, against all the evidence, against the overwhelming might of the Roman Empire, that God had put everything right in Jesus’ death and resurrection. Even some of the disciples didn’t believe it. But that triumph is what our faith is about. Climate anxiety is our modern experience of the oppression of forces beyond our control. Can we regain the early Christians’ sense of joy and confidence in the face of our climate crisis? In this program, we will follow Christ to the cross and discover there the joy that drove Jesus’ followers around the world and can empower us to proclaim good news in face of the looming climate threat. Do we believe God can turn the climate crisis into joy? Believe it!
Harold Munn will present a way of accessing that joy as described in his book “Faith in Disaster,” and participants will be invited to share with one another their own journey into deep, fulfilling life. “FAITH IN DISASTER — Finding Deep Hope in the Climate Crisis: How to Build a Seatbelt of Joy for Climate Collapse and Faith Collapse” will be published by Freisen Press early in 2026.
